ozone hole

The expression began to become popular in the late 1980s, following the detection over the vertical of Antarctica of the massive destruction of ozone molecules. The aforementioned hole is, in reality, a vast region of the ozonosphere in which the ozone concentration is significantly low, which mainly occurs over the Antarctic continent in the austral spring (September-October-November). That seasonal loss of ozone is due to a combination of natural and anthropogenic factors (CFCs).
