wind

The movement of air in a horizontal plane relative to the Earth's surface. It is characterized by two elements measured with instruments, which gives them the status of meteorological variables: speed (or intensity) and direction (or bearing). At weather observatories, wind measurements are taken 10 meters above the ground, which constitute surface wind data. The observed wind (real wind) is the result of the action of the various forces acting at all times on the air. In Meteorology, apart from that, some theoretical winds are established - simplifications of the real one - which are used to address the complex atmospheric dynamics. At a colloquial level, it is common to consider wind as a synonym for air ("What a wind/air there is!").
