Zonda wind

A very dry, warm, dusty west wind that blows preferentially between May and October in the central part of Argentina, coming from the eastern-slope sector of the Andes located in the Cuyo region. Originally, it is a cold, humid wind that leaves abundant rain on the windward slopes of the Andean range and snowfall on the summits of that sector. On descending on the lee side, it gradually heats up due to the foehn effect, causing a notable rise in temperatures, reaching values on the order of 40°C. It is also known as sondo.
