funnel cloud

A popular expression used for a waterspout in Cuba. It figuratively describes a tuba, which as such does not reach the Earth's surface. In practice, funnel clouds are identified, interchangeably, with tornadoes, waterspouts, or sea tornadoes and the aforementioned tubas.
