fire whirl / firenado
A fire eddy that grows upward, vertically, whose appearance is reminiscent of a dust devil or waterspout. The phenomenon is colloquially known as a "fire tornado". When, in a wildfire, the very hot air rotates as it rises, the flames coil around the convective column and rise through it helically, resulting in the fire vortex. Its typical dimensions are between 10 and 50 meters in height and a few meters in width. It usually lasts between 1 and 5 minutes, although in exceptional cases they can be longer-lasting and of greater size.
