Catatumbo lightning
A singular meteorological phenomenon of an electrical nature, which develops over an extensive swampy area comprising the southwestern end of Lake Maracaibo and the lower basin of the Catatumbo River, from which it takes its name, in Venezuela. It is an almost continuous flashing of lightning, due to the frenetic storm activity that habitually takes place in the area.
