World Meteorological Day (WMD)
Day celebrated on March 23 each year, commemorating the entry into force -on March 23, 1950- of the convention that established the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Since it is made up of more than 180 countries, the celebration events take place practically all over the world, and consist of a large number of activities, such as symposiums, conferences, tribute events, or exhibitions, aimed both at meteorology professionals and at the general public. The WMO chooses a theme each year with which it wants to draw attention to a matter of general interest related to weather or climate.
