NOAA

An acronym for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which gives its name to one of the world's leading agencies devoted to atmospheric sciences. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (of the USA) was founded on October 3, 1970, under the administration of President Richard Nixon (1913-1994), and is a scientific agency under the United States Department of Commerce. Among its functions is the supply of data and products (analysis and forecasting) with information relating to the atmosphere and the oceans, as well as basic and applied research into a wide range of matters related to hydrology, weather, and climate, ecosystems, transport, and trade; both at a regional (for the USA) and global scale. NOAA participates in countless studies and projects on hurricanes, climate change, polar ice, or ocean currents, among other topics of meteorological interest.
