meteorologist
According to the Technical Regulations of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO No. 49), this is a person with a university graduate-level education who has satisfactorily met the requirements of the Basic Instruction Package for Meteorologists (BIP-M). A meteorologist is only accredited as such if they have successfully completed the training course in which the subjects specified in the aforementioned BIP-M are taught. Apart from the above, any person who works professionally in Meteorology is also called a meteorologist, whether or not they belong to an NMS. The men and women who present the weather in the media are habitually called meteorologists, regardless of their academic background (which is highly varied). This professional designation is only justified in cases where the presenter can demonstrate solid knowledge in the subject and receives ongoing training in it. Anyone who studies Meteorology, both in the university sphere and in any research center, is also considered a meteorologist.
