Mesoscale Convective Complex
Highly organized set of storms much larger in size than an ordinary storm, usually associated with adverse weather phenomena that are particularly intense and long-lasting. The characteristics of an MCC (the acronym by which it is known) are dictated by certain criteria established by different authors based on the analysis of infrared satellite images. Those established by the American meteorologist Robert A. Maddox, in 1980, are considered the main reference.
