haboob

A name with its etymological origin in the Arabic word habb (wind), used to identify a severe dust storm, at the leading edge of which a wall of sediment lifted from the ground forms, as a consequence of a sudden collapse of air against the ground. Although the term originates in Sudan and South Sudan, its use has spread to all the dry regions of the world where this violent phenomenon occurs. The wall of dust can reach up to 100 km in width and several kilometers in height, and move at speeds of between 35 and 100 km/h.
