wet fog / soaking mist

A colloquial, expressive way of referring to a fog that wets. When fogs are particularly dense, collisions between droplets are more frequent, with many of them merging and giving rise to the formation of larger drops, though smaller than drizzle drops. When those droplets come into contact with the ground and any other element exposed to them, they soak it as if it had rained, forming a film of those minuscule drops. Walking through one of these fogs, one notices the slight impact of the droplets on one's face.
