Zephyrus

The name given in Greek mythology to the wind-god of the west, whose original name was Zéphyros. He was the benefactor wind par excellence, herald of spring. A mild, gentle wind. On the Tower of the Winds in Athens he is depicted as a bare-chested young man, holding a tunic - used as a makeshift bundle - full of flowers. One of his best-known depictions is the one appearing in the painting The Birth of Venus, by the Italian painter Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510). In Roman mythology he was known as Favonius (Favonius), in clear reference to his status as a favorable wind.
