sounding

A set of meteorological observations measured by a radiosonde. It is usually known as such when referring to the graphical representation of that data on a thermodynamic diagram. Radiosoundings constitute a very useful tool for knowing the degree of atmospheric stability/instability at a given time and place, thanks to the behavior displayed by both temperature and air humidity in the vertical.
