rosy cloud

In a meteorological context, this is the colloquial name given to the pink-colored - flesh-colored - cloud sometimes observed during sunrise and sunset. That coloration is due to the way sunlight is scattered when the sun is near the horizon; the clouds located at greater height take on striking hues ranging from the aforementioned pinkish tones to a wide range of reds, oranges, and golds.
