Indian summer / unseasonal warm spell

A period of a few days duration occurring in autumn or spring at temperate latitudes in both hemispheres, during which temperatures more typical of summer are recorded. At a popular level, several of them are known by the name of the saint whose feast day approximately coincides with the date on which those "little summers" occur each year. The weather-related folk sayings refer to them.
