vendavel / gale

A word that, in its broadest sense, refers to a very intense and violent wind, such as that generated by some storms. The term has its origin in the French expression vent d'aval (wind from below), used in the French region of Brittany to refer to the intense winds blowing from the south and west, of maritime origin. In coastal areas it is identified with a strong wind, not quite reaching the category of "temporal" on the Beaufort scale, whose force we can place between 7 and 8 on that scale.
