centrifugal force

An apparent force to which an object is subjected as it traces a curvilinear path, pulling it outward from the radius of turn. We experience it when taking a curve in a car or when spinning on a merry-go-round. In the atmosphere, it acts on air when, as it moves, it describes circular motions.
