stagnation cloud
Referring to cloudiness, this qualifier is given to the orographic cloud that remains for a long time anchored or stagnant - hence the name - on the windward slope of a mountain, on which a constant flow of humid air is present. Stagnation clouds are common on mountain slopes facing prevailing winds.
