sleet / ice pellets
Solid precipitation formed by small, smooth spheres, occasionally with conical points, of translucent ice, whose diameter ranges between 2 and 5 millimeters, occasionally exceeding that latter value. Cellisca is a particular type of granular snow, presenting morphological characteristics similar to hail. It is fairly commonly used to name a blizzard in which the wind carries that fine snow, mixed with drops of water. Its use is also applied to refer to the mixture of the aforementioned drops with conventional snowflakes, though small in size, or also small hailstones, all of it driven impetuously by the wind. It is habitually identified with graupel and with granular ice, given the similarities the three hydrometeors present.
