mamma

A Latin word that gives its name to one of the supplementary features of the Atlas Internacional de Nubes of the WMO, consisting of protuberances shaped like a teat or breast (mamma, hence its name) that hang, at times, from certain cloud genera. They can be observed on cirrus, cirrocumulus, altocumulus, altostratus, stratocumulus, and cumulonimbus. Particularly striking are those hanging from the anvil of a Cumulonimbus, whose formation is due to a process known in Meteorology as reverse convection.
