ghibli
The name given in North Africa to the warm, dusty southeast wind coming from the Sahara Desert. It has its origin in the Arabic word qibli, meaning "coming from the qibla." This is the name Muslims give to the point on the horizon or on the wall of their mosques oriented toward Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, toward which they direct their prayers. There are different variants of the word, such as gibli, gibla, chibli, kibli, gebli, or the aforementioned quibla.
