sea spray / sea scent

A term identifying the characteristic smell of the sea, as well as the ambient humidity and salt-laden dew that occurs in coastal areas, responsible for accelerating the phenomenon of metal corrosion. This name is also given to the sea breeze. This wind is responsible for carrying inland the very humid, salty air of maritime origin which - once it reaches saturation - forms the aforementioned dew. In Brazil and Portugal, and other Portuguese-speaking regions, it is a synonym for swell.
